Be aware, this is not a "six-pack" exercise. Its a core stability exercise which really, and i mean really helps people with bad posture (from sitting at a pc/ behind a car wheel for many years).

Yeah thing is, to much abs look butch on women so planks would be good for them to help strengthen the abs without causing that.

I can hold a plank for just over two minutes, its great for core strength. Its the only excercise I use for my abs and it works very well

I've always looked at this exercise as being an excellent way to strengthen the lower back.

Planks have always seemed [to me] to be one of the more "useless" ab exercises. [As far as gaining a 6-8pack] I started working out 14 years ago and the quickest and most useful ab exercises that worked [for me] were the bicycle crunch, reverse crunch and hanging leg raises. I reached the point of holding planks for a little over 6 minutes and while my abs stayed firm with planks, gaining definition doesnt happen.
